The classes run in terms of 5-7 weeks. The first class is always a free class. You can then sign up for a term but commit to paying fees for each class even if you miss a class. You may pay in cash or by bank transfer at the start of the term or weekly.
I am originally from Berlin and started dancing ballet. modern and expressive dance from a very young age. I trained and performed mainly with the child and youth dance company Tanzwerkstatt No Limit, from 1988-2000. I continued training in contemporary dance with the jilling company, Tantheaterproject Rostock, (now Tanzland Rostock) from 2001-2005 performing in many of their dance theatre pieces. Having lived in the US from 1992-94 and graduated from the German-American partnership School, JFKS Berlin in 2000, I studied for MA in English and German Studies (2000-2006). I came to Cork first as an Erasmus student (2002/03) and again to study for MA Drama and Theatre Studies w. focus on expressive dance at UCC (2005-06). For the last 10 years, I’ve trained & performed in a number of projects, mainly in contemporary dance with Inma Pavon. I have a certificate in Creative Dance Leadership for children (AHAB Academy, Berlin), a Fetac 5 in Exercise and Fitness (CSN), a basic practitioner & teacher level in KDS. Floor Barre (Hamburg Dance Institute). Currently, I am training as Community Dance Leader (The Laban Guild), kindly supported by Cork City Council. In 2015 I founded Dance Theatre Project Cork to facilitate dance, drama and language courses.
My dance theatre class at Cork Educate Together NS is now on it’s summerbreak! To keep dancing this summer, check out my small independent summercamp! At summercamp I will mix modern dance technical training to the groups’ ability with sessions in dance making! For example, a dance on vanity & fashion, on the craze to buy the latest trends, a look at what happens to our clothes once we get rid of them, intertwined with Irish legends – may be inspiration for a dance theatre piece we could develop.
Creative choices, intentions in dance and technique but most of all fun! is what I work with. I’ve been teaching dance theatre for children at CETNS for 2 years now. The children explore movement, make their own dances together & train in modern dance. Class is all about creativity, strength & confidence building!
More creative dance/community dance and contemporary classes
